Definitions of our secondary hike

rating system:  

 

 The first number indicates the number of miles:

1 = less than 2 miles/2 = 2-5 miles/3 = 5-7 miles/4 = 7-10 miles/5 = 11+ miles

  The letter indicates cumulative elevation gain:

 A = less than 200 ft/B = 500-1000 ft/C = 2000-3000 ft/D = 3000-4000 ft/

E = 4000-5000 ft

  The last number indicates type of terrain: 

 1 = smooth/2 = smooth to rough/3 = rough trail (boots recommended/4 =  trail with        some cross-country/5 = special equipment needed and/or required                 

 

If you have questions about the length or severity of a hike, please contact the leader beforehand.

the basic quad-method ratings of easy, moderate, difficult & strenuous can be used to determine hike levels.


  Definitions of our primary hike

rating system:

e-asy 

-minimal or almost no elevation gain/loss; mostly level ground 

  m-oderate 

- some elevation gain/loss; rolling terrain; some uphill, but minimal

  d-ifficult 

-larger elevation gain/loss; more hills and tougher terrain (rocks, cliffs, mud); potential/possible creek crossings.

  s-trenuous

-intense uphill for most of hike; massive elevation gain/loss; participants need to be in good physical condition.

>YOU MUST TAKE WATER ON ALL HIKES-NO MATTER WHAT'S IN THE FORECAST!

 >THE MORE INTENSE THE HIKE, THE MORE WATER YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED!
